Descending windows

Frameless descending window fronts

How does this technology work?

With HIRT kinetics ®, the moving elements do not rest on a suspension system, but on a stable supporting structure that is balanced by a counterweight. This means that even large glass or wall surfaces can be moved almost silently and effortlessly by a small motor. At the touch of a button, façades weighing several tonnes glide downwards weightlessly and open the room completely – for a limitless living experience.

Break down the wall!

Hirth kinetics® Swiss-made descending windows stand for high-quality, vertically sliding window solutions. They combine elegant design with sophisticated technology for modern architecture. Thanks to their precise workmanship and durable materials, they offer maximum comfort and security. Descending windows are ideal for gastronomic areas or private living spaces. With their space-saving function, they create seamless transitions between inside and outside.

Invisible window fronts

HIRT kinetics® specialises in vertically movable elements such as descending windows, façades or wind screens – including integrated doors. Counterweights ensure perfect balance so that only small, virtually silent motors are required. The technology is based on over 20 years of experience and has been tried and tested worldwide in a wide range of climatic conditions.

The products offer excellent thermal insulation thanks to three sealing levels and a special pneumatic seal. In terms of security, they are CE-certified, offer high burglary protection, can be fitted with safety glass and have manual emergency operation in the event of a power failure.

Advantages at a glance

FAQ

How do descending windows work?
The moving components of the HIRT kinetics® system do not hang, but stand on a supporting structure, which is connected to a counterweight. Perfectly balanced, they can be moved silently by a small motor. Gigantic wall or glass surfaces thus become virtually weightless and lower at the touch of a button for a completely unrestricted opening of the room. Even façades weighing several tonnes disappear effortlessly into the floor.
Of course! Weightless immersion works with all possible shapes. Metal, stone, wood, all kinds of walls disappear effortlessly into the floor. The effect is even more impressive with solid walls than with glass. Where there was previously a solid wall, an uncompromising opening opens weightlessly from wall to wall without any visible restrictions.
The technical room in the basement, which is required as a parking space for the recessed HIRT kinetics® and for the counterweight, must be concreted. The control unit, motor, drive shaft, compressor and pneumatic components for the seal are also housed in this technical room.
Yes, both swing doors and sliding doors can be installed in the descending windows. This is an option that we highly recommend and increases the flexibility of use even further.
The guidelines stipulate a periodic inspection every two years. For heavily frequented elements, we recommend annual maintenance. In addition, remote maintenance is possible via an internet connection. This provides efficient system access for updating the software and, if necessary, analysing faults.
